The S.I.M.P.L.E Guide to Behaviour Management in the Primary Classroom

Behaviour management underpins everything else, so it’s essential that NQTs get it right.

In the course, we cover the following:

  • The principles of the SIMPLE approach – Systems, Implementation, Management, Pace, Language and Expectations
  • Managing everyday behaviour – i.e. low level disruption
  • Managing more challenging behaviour
  • Understanding why children behave in the way that they do

The content of the course ensures that the participants have plenty of strategies to take away with them, ready to use in their classrooms.

Understanding SEND in the Primary Classroom

With the recent changes to the SEND Code of Practice, the need for newly qualified teachers to have a sound understanding of supporting children with additional needs has grown.

In the course, we cover the following:

  • Supporting SEND pupils appropriately – planning, differentiation, use of additional adults
  • Working with other external professionals
  • Key terminology explained
  • Managing more challenging children within the mainstream classroom

Effective Teaching and Learning in the Primary Classroom

Progress and attainment is a necessity in every classroom, but so is personality and teaching style.

In this course, we cover the following:

  • Developing your own teaching style
  • Ensuring progress in every lesson
  • Managing observations, including those by Ofsted
  • Planning and marking – tips and techniques

NQT Survival Skills

In this full day course, we look at all aspects of an NQT’s year and how they can successfully navigate their way through it, to become a brilliant teacher.

In this course, we cover the following:

  • Behaviour Management
  • Key Principles of Teaching and Learning
  • NQT well-being and work/life balance
  • The Teaching Standards and how to evidence them

Duration: 6 hours (full day with lunch provided)
